ORCHESTRA PROGRAM

THE FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA is the essential activity where all the elements of music making culminate in a grand event. The orchestra will study and perform some of the most inspiring works of the vast literature under the direction of Yoram Youngerman. It meets daily and all string students up to age 18 are required to play and will be placed according their audition tape/cd or by a special seating audition. The final concert will also feature the first prize winner of the 2009 Concerto Competition.

THE CHAMBER ORCHESTRA is an intimate ensemble of up to 20 players of all ages who will be selected for their technical and musical achievement. The chamber orchestra will study and explore some elements that combine individual virtuosity in an ensemble setting. Under the direction of Eduard Schmeider, they will prepare for performance some of the most challenging repertoire of the orchestral literature. All students selected to participate will be
eligible for a $250 merit scholarship which can be applied toward tuition.
